Gifts/Pledges - Gift Categories
The "List Of Gift Categories" screen shows all of the Gift Categories (also known as Funds) used to account for the different income sources, the Gift Type (U - Unrestricted, R - Restricted Temporarily, P - Permanently Restricted, D - Deputized, F - Fee Income), and the Class and Sub-Class. When using SeekerWorks PLU$™, a revenue account and undeposited account in the General Ledger are also required.
The "Update A Gift Category" screen is used to define the characteristics of the Gift Category (e.g., "Capital Campaign"). The Gift Type determines which type of fund the gift category represents, including U - Unrestricted, R - Restricted Temporarily, P - Permanently Restricted, D - Deputized, F - Fee Income. The Class and Sub-Class can be used for grouping items like department and sub-department, and are used with an accounting package like Quickbooks to match income with expenses. When using SeekerWorks PLU$™, a revenue account and undeposited account in the General Ledger are also required, while the Class/Sub-Class fields are protected (not used).
